Fine Art Prints Page One Next In the beginning of 1987 Mike's life and work took a dramatic change with the birth of his first child, a boy named Elijah (Yahweh is God). With fatherhood came responsibility, but also and more important to the artist, came a fresh focus of reliving childhood. Through Eli's, and later his daughter Lauren's (Victorious One who wears the Crown) eyes, he was able to capture the innocence and exuberance of childhood, whether it be climbing trees and living the adventures of the Swiss Family Robinson or sharing tea and a book with a chair full of stuffed bunnies come to life. "Thanks to my children, I am able to recapture a youthfulness and zest for life that had unconsciously evaporated with time. I am now able to reclaim those days of yesteryear, and again fight pirates on the high seas, fish for crawdads, roast marshmallows on an open fire, or rediscover the flavor of tuity fruity ice cream."
