Summer's Treat is a look back to the simple pleasures and endless summers. When after a day of exploring the countryside we came back to the security of Grandma's house and the taste of fresh hand-cranked ice cream. My Grandpa said "It always tastes better when you do the cranking." My memories were jolted back one summer day when while mowing the yard Eli came running to me for money because the ice cream man was coming. Well I could use a break from the heat also, so we took a break to enjoy an ice cream together. Now Eli likes to talk and he is always asking questions and that day was no different. "Dad why is the sky blue? Dad why does the sun always melt my ice cream before I can finish it...ice cream, Dad did you have ice cream when you were little?" So when I explained to Eli that growing up on the outskirts of a small town the ice cream man didn't make it that far and we had to make our own ice cream. He couldn't believe it and my memories flooded back to me and hopefully yours will too.
